A handful of Honky Tonk, a bit of Bluegrass, and a heapin' helpin' of Rock makes the sweet recipe that is Shoestring Strap. We cook it all: from an acoustic bluegrass dish with that High and Lonesome sound to a Finger Snappin' Toe Tappin' Drum Slappin' entree of Twangin' Rock. There's something for almost every taste on our menu.
If you've got a hankerin' for some tasty licks, sweet vocals, and an irresistable beat, you're in the right place. Pull up a chair and let us serve you up a good listen, and then come on down to a show and dance till you get your fill!
The Band Members:
Dave Lowenstein: The only San Diego Native in a San Diego band, Dave makes his Tele scream, his Dreadnought sing, and his banjo ring. Heâs the manager too so if you ever signed the mailing list, bought a CD, or saw one of our flyers he most likely had something to do with it. Daveâs singing and playing are greatly facilitated by shots of expensive tequila in case youâre wondering what to order him at the bar.
Kent Stephens: St. Louis brought us Kent by way of many other places. If he hadnât joined and gotten kicked out of the navy he may have never gotten the taste of San Diego that ended up keeping him here. Kent does a lot more than just hold down the low end on that Bass guitar. Heâs also the lead vocalist, and more of a scotch drinker.
Mark Markowitz: A transplant from New York City, Mark is our ace in the pocket drummer. Heâs like a bullet train, fast and smooth. Heâs like a 6 lane superhighway of rhythm, and thereâs always a sign pointing to the 1 if we lose our way. He'll take a shot of Jack, thanks.
Keith Tenzer: From New York to L.A. this multicoastal Mandolinist rounds out our sound keeping us rooted in bluegrass and traditional roots music while taking us to new peaks and plateaus. Keithâs a secret songwriter too, writing some of our most popular songs. Bring that boy a Bud!
Brennan Orndorff: The new guy can sure rip it up on the lap steel guitar. Kentucky is the home of fried chicken and the derby, and it brought us one hell of a screamin guitarist.
