Bio
Just who the hell am I? Well... Let me entertain you! My name is Michael St. Allen. I was born and raised in the heart of lunacy. Midwest Rock City!! Where there is very little happening musically these days. If you're a friend you can call me Mike. If you're anything else, well... never call me at all. I'm the singer, and chief pain in the ass in my band Seven Ten. I formed the band with two very unique guys. Kenny Lee (Guitars) And Dee Anthony (Drums). We worked pretty hard for 3 years putting together our first release 'LOVE And War". A few line-up changes would happen along the way, but Kenny, Dee and myself stuck to our guns. Summer 2003 would see our debut album get released by a label from the east coast. We would play where they would allow us. It's very hard finding a gig playing Melodic Hard Rock here in the USA. We figured it was best to keep playing to keep the machine as tight as possible.
In November of 2003 after only a few months of the album coming out Kenny Lee left Seven Ten for personal reasons. I wished him well and that began a search to find another guitar player. Our bass player at the time talked a guy into taking Kenny's place. We had scheduled a gig we could not afford to miss. So we began rehearsing and after two weeks played that scheduled show. The replacement guitarist would only play two or three shows with us. Things seemed to be falling apart though with the entire situation. I'm no expert on being a rock star, nor am I one. I do feel that communication is a damn fine place to start when playing in a band. Seven Ten had no communication. I spoke to our drummer Dee all the time but never really spoke to anybody else. I tried tracking everybody down but these guys are the busiest people they know!! I started the band and felt that my opinion might not be wanted, but by the same token should be respected. It was not! Nobody was interested in what I thought so it was time for them to go.
About a year went by and I met up with an old friend who was actually the original choice for the guitar slot. Nate Trumble and I began to write for a new cd. We would get about two songs into it when Dee Anthony would decide to play with one of our older bass players. No Notice! No Warning! I do hate surprises. The task of replacing an entire band will be difficult, but not impossible. I look forward to the challenge. I started Seven Ten not as a moneymaking machine, but rather as a tribute to the memory of things I find important. People and Music! Two very important things! Seven Ten is hardly dead as some choose to believe. I'm alive so it's alive. Seven Ten is not just a band. It's a way of life. My life. I'm Living It! No looking back now. Who knows where the road may lead. The one thing I do know is Change is good! Ultimate change is better! I will return to the live stage to Kick Some Ass again. It's a matter of when and where!

Glorious early 80's metal ala early Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister and Motley Crue. "Love and War" is the explosive debut melodic hard rock cd from Seven Ten. These guys would have been huge in 1984. Anthemic songs with big rockin' guitars, and rhythms. Michael sounds similar to Dee Snider and Kevin Dubrow, and can really belt it out with the pipes!

Killer Dwarfs/Slick/SEVEN TEN

Oh yeah! It's been over a decade since the Dwarfs came down from the Great White North to loot and pillage the US, and I wanted to be there for the mayhem. Add in a couple of cool local Chicago-area opening acts, the revamped Penny Road's great sound system, and you've got yourself a rock 'n' roll party.

SEVEN TEN (45 minutes)


I'd never heard of these guys but they were impressive purveyors of old-school '80s melodic hard rock. The singer kinda sounded like Quiet Riot's Kevin DuBrow about half of the time, and he had a fairly powerful set of pipes. The guitarist had flash, the bassist had a cool, laid-back tough guy image (and he sorta looked like Manowar drummer Scott Columbus...), and the drummer was solid. The band played a bunch of songs off its new (?) album LOVE AND WAR, plus a cover or two, the only one I remember being Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" medley'd with The Guess Who's "American Woman." Fun band with a bit of a Wildside (the first album only!) vibe.

Seven Ten's debut album has been sometime in the making and to the relief of the band has finally been released just recently by Metal Mayhem.
The band have that traditional American 80's stadium hard rock style, that bands like Quiet Riot, Steelheart and Motley Crue were famous for.
This is going to appeal to old school fans who like it loud and a little over the top.
The strength of the band is their knack to come up with a good chorus hook and a strong guitar riff. Just as Talon's debut album took us back to the glory days of LA hard rock, so does Seven Ten.
In "Live For Today" the songs slows mid-track for a spoken word story to remind me of the sleaze rock attitude of the 80's.
"Cross My Heart" is the album's big ballad and is very much in the Steelheart vein.
"Love In A Bottle" is very Quiet Riot, especially with the vocal delivery.
"Tied Up In Love" has a great vocal hook and some nice harmonies.
The Bottom Line
The album is part metal, part hard rock, part sleaze/glam, but all held together by the consistent delivery. Old school fans will find a lot to like about the album.

Out of Chicago, Illinois USA comes SEVEN TEN. Their CD 'Love And War' has just been released on METAL MAYHEM MUSIC. Finally this is an American band playing classy punchy good old fashioned Melodic Party Hard Rock, in the best American tradition. This CD really kicks ass. It contains 11 strong catchy rockers that combine the best of the late 80s sounds of DOKKEN, CRUE, SLAUGHTER, FIREHOUSE, WHITE LION and RATT. The vocals are good, the guitar sound is excellent, the production is big and so are the included songs. This is a highly recommended CD, and once you play it you can't get enough! The sing-a-long choruses of each song stick in your head after hearing it once, and therefore this is the perfect CD to put on when you're having a party. In other words this is the classy 80s orientated CD to purchase if you miss the days of 'Hair Metal' being the most popular music. Anyway, most of the songs are in the same style, but my favorite tracks are up tempo melodic party rockers such as "Chosen One", "Tied Up In Love", "Seven Ten", "As We Say Goodbye" and "Give It To Me Straight". Concluded, a must for fans of classy late 80s American Melodic Party Hard Rock a la SLAUGHTER, CRUE, DOKKEN, JOHNNY LIMA, SHY TIGER, ANATOMIC And WHITE LION
