Everyone knows that most teenage girls and boys love rap music. Eminem, 50 Cent, and Missy Elliot; everyone is listening to them these days. I live for rap music. Prodigal, a.k.a. Travis Clark, is the rap style I am looking for, plus a bonus with Christian lyrics. It has a positive message that encouraged my faith. If you're a shy person, it might encourage you enough to witness to people you are not familiar with. That is sort of how I felt.
As I said before, "Prodigal" has an awesome rap style and beat. My favorite songs are "Hip Hop Carnival", "Showtime", "Rock the Boat", "I'm Just Me", "Change", "Love Song", and "Gametime". They mostly talk about how looking up to Jesus and being yourself is better than following all the sinful stuff in this world. It's very exciting, and exciting is a good thing.
Before some of the songs, there are little shorts of him on a radio station introducing the song. He is kind of talking to the audience, it's like he is trying to get everyone involved even if it is through a CD. This is not Prodigal's first CD. There is an earlier CD titled "Dear America" that evidently caused some controversy.
All in all, Prodigal is a very uplifting CD, with a great beat. I really like it. It is one of my favorite CDs that I have reviewed this year.

Travis Clark a.k.a. Prodigal is breaking the laws of hip hop! Mainstream hip hop is trying to show that drugs, sex and a crazy lifestyle is the best way to live. But Prodigal is proving that not to be true! Growing up in a divorced house with two sisters who got heavy into drugs and running away from home and a dad who moved away, Prodigal began going to drugs and alcohol as a way out. From 6th to 9th grade living this way, finally Prodigal hit his breaking point. Hating life and at the end of his rope his dad moved back and Prodigal began living with him. This is when Prodigal's life began to change drastically! He started going to church and it was then that God began working in his heart, until finally, Prodigal gave his life to Christ in the middle of his 9th grade year. This was just the beginning of what God was beginning to do in his life! Prodigal who has always had a passion for rap music began writing christian lyrics and seeing where God would take it! In a span of 3 years now pursuing to bring something new to the hip hop world Prodigal has accomplished alot! He won 3 consecutive years as best rapper in the Arizona Assemblies of God Fine arts, has put out a 6 song E.P. and was soon followed a year later with a 17 track L.P. and has just finished a 2 month long tour through the west coast with "The Extreme Tour 05"! Prodigal music is quickly growing outside of just his home state of Arizona! Taking christian hip hop to a new level one song at a time!
