Details:
Phillip Roy Scherer has been playing music in some fashion sense the age of 14. Phillip was a guitar player and writer in Midwest based Shindig and Pilate Grove. Phillip later moved to Grand Rapids, Mi where he honed his songwriting and Vocal abilities. He would go on to build a solid reputation in W. Michigan as a serious singer/songwriter performing on regular basis and recording his first solo album "Life in the Upright Position". The recording featured many local musicians from Grand Rapids, and Muskegon, Mi and was considered a great success. Phillip eventually made his way back to Kansas city were he formed the band Honest Loot. Honest Loot forged new ground combining Phillip Roy Scherer, Drummer Matt Hendricks and multi-instrumentalist Dr. Jer B. The band spent 1 and 1/2 years in the local scene before disbanding to pursue other interest. Phillip is know re-dedicated himself as a solo singer/songwriter and recording artist.

In mid 2003 Phillip Roy Scherer released his first full length CD entitled "Life in the Upright Position." The CD featured musicians Matt Hendricks, and Brad Werth (formally of Pilate Grove) Shane Bullis (Grasshoppah, Jiff and the Choosey Muthas), and Brent Shirey (Happy Hour). Life in the Upright Position has met with great response and continues to find it's way into the CD players of those who possess it.

Review:
Phillip Roy Scherer is someone to watch out for! Originally from the farm country of Iowa, he now resides in Grand Rapids, MI where he has spent much of his time playing his original songs on his Martin acoustic. His music is like a vivid book about life in modern Americana-told by a true storyteller with both intent and passion. His songs are catchy, melodic, and painfully beautiful recollections of struggle and triumph in the American Midwest. He can be seen performing his original music at various coffee shops and clubs in West Michigan. His debut CD, "Life in the Upright Position" will be available soon, and I must confess that I have previewed a few of the tracks, and you are not gonna want to miss it!
