Description:

(ID 133045)
Dark and desperate rock and roll with paranormal overtones, fronted by published conspiracy theorist Rev. George Pickard.

12 MP3 Songs
POP: Power Pop, POP: New Wave

Details:
"Motordeath" is the 3rd full-length album from The Atomiks, following the self-released (and long out-of-print) debut CD "PONTIAC" and 1999's ultra fun "Super Honky." Album #3 could be loosely described as a concept record, as the lyrical theme of death in cars is weaved through many of the tracks. Lead singer George Pickard, a published conspiracy theorist, has ventured farther than usual from The Atomiks' original rockabilly roots for this record, exploring territory that could best be described as "paranormal power-pop".

The band on this record was rounded out by stand-up bass player Luke Hoffman, who joined The Atomiks before the recording of "Super Honky," as well as drummer Jason Kellner and lead guitarist Steve Hadley. "Motordeath" features some of the strongest recordings of The Atomiks' career, such as the harrowing "Officer 23." Also, check out the Velvet Underground-inspired "Carrie" for more evidence of George Pickard's robust songwriting chops. "Motordeath" is the strongest album yet from The Atomiks, and is proof positive of why The Atomiks are consistently voted as the best band in their hometown of Reno, Nevada.
