Our CD, âFAMILY and FRIENDS,â which is an 'original' childrenâs music CD for the entire family, as well as educators is now available at various digital companies around the world including iTunes. Our CD, along with the activities available on our web page: http://www.tempub.com/index.htm are designed to be a fun, interactive, educational tool that will create positive interaction between children and adults dealing with everyday issues in a childâs world. As folks share these songs with the children in their lives, they will create lasting memories of quality time shared as they discuss the issues addressed within the song lyrics. Some of the issues addressed within the lyrics are listed below:
(1) Making children aware of car and street safety- (âSeatbelt Hugsâ and âAlways Look All Waysâ).
(2) The cultivation of patience- (âWaitinâ My Turnâ).
(3) Self acceptance and that perfection if it takes place at all is as fleeting as a summer shower- (âMistakes Happenâ)
(4) The importance of strong family relationships and being positive role models- (âYounger Brothers and Sistersâ).
(5) For the parents, we have also included a reminder song that deals with the fact that so much of what we are and how we express ourselves is who and what our children will become. Also, the other side of the coin, that parents have times of stress, as well.- (âMy Learning Treeâ).
(6) An inherent part of all of the above- (âCommon Senseâ).
(7) There is also a fun rhyming song to encourage all to take part in the creative process- (âTaking Time to Rhymeâ).
(8) At the end of our CD, you will find a guitar instrumental for all to relax with and enjoy the moment at hand- (âFinding the Riverâ).

After reviewing our web site and CD, you will see that together they are designed to be a fun, hands on, creatively interactive, educational tool. Of course, the activities suggested in the âSong and Activitiesâ section are intended to be springboards for those implementing the activities. Iâm sure many more ideas will spring from the minds of the facilitators, as well as, from the âmouths of babesâ! We feel the age range of our CD is from 3-12 years of age. The safety issue songs are more for the younger children. The role modeling and self-acceptance songs being more for the older children.
Songs by their very nature and inherent structure have multiple reinforcing features: rhyming, metaphor, simile, other poetic devices, rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic references, as well as, the song structure, itself. These features all serve to reinforce the above mentioned concepts interactively while adult and child enjoy the moment at hand. We endeavored to keep this recording as honest as the songs. We turned off a fair amount of the expensive equipment in my recording studio to keep it simple and straightforward. Our goal was to create the feeling of sitting around oneâs living room casually relaxing, sharing in song, and enjoying each otherâs company. As you will here, the instrumentation is simply myself playing guitar and singing my original compositions much like the folk singers of years past.
