Details:
Sweetness and the results of its affects on the listener was a concern. But with this, the new CD 'Five Dreams of Being', it may seem like an old friend who you met at the Living Room on Stanton Street in New York City.
Matthew Puckett has proven that he is more than just the local club scene. His career expands well into the realm of television and film. In addition to performing in and around NYC, he spent summer 2005 writing and recording songs and music for television. His music was featured on the ABC series "Hooking Up' and FX channel's "Starved". This Brooklynite offers poignant songs with bittersweet hooks and brilliant lead vocals.
The latest CD, 'Five Dreams of Being, a departure from Matthew's past projects, is set for official release in January 2006. Recorded in Brooklyn and upstate NY, 'Five Dreams' is an earthy mix of dark ballads and rhythmic musings. It contains two songs that were written for the film "Particles of Truth"(Starring Gale Harold and featured on Sundance Channel's 'New Voices').
After the breakup of his band 'Puckett', Matthew made the decision to go back to his origins as an acoustic performer. 'Five Dreams' reflects this departure. Working with fellow Brooklyn musician/producer Seth Ginsberg, Matthew focused on a new batch of songs and instrumentations. Most of the songs on 'Five Dreams' were composed during sleepless nights on a haunted old 4-string guitar from the 1950's. The unique feel and eclectic sounds also consist of vibraphone, mandolin, lap steel, upright bass and one or two digital spices.
A quote from Music Connection magazine about Matthew's last CD:
"... (on) an EP which showcases leader Matthew Puckett's acoustic work... 'Sad Little Car' and 'Come Here Honey' are inspired by an indie film, 'Particles of Truth' (Starring Gale Harold from Showtime's 'Queer as Folk', due in theaters 2004), and are affecting tunes whose bittersweet hooks and wistful lead vocals make for a compelling listen. These are songs whose strengths sneak up on you."
