GOSPEL: Traditional Gospel, GOSPEL: Contemporary Gospel
Details:
This cd is a gospel ep-maxi; a preview of an on-going project with an anticipated completion date of June, 2007.
The cd was compiled, by the writer, to re-emphasize the Word of the Gospel which states, in paraphrase, that âHe that is within me is always greater than anything and anyone around meâ. This cd represents the trials of man and the hope of things to come.
The group Cross Generation was formed in 2004 by NaNingo Productions. The focus of the company was to create a singing group to emphasize the lyrical content of the writerâs compilations. Out of the auditions, Michelle Pearl, Gregory Robinson, Vondell Wilkerson, and David Townsend became that group.
Michelle Pearl, born in Detroit, Michigan, showed a strong interest in music at an early age when she began singing in the church choir. She has appeared on local TV shows showcasing her talent. In 2005, Michelle became a finalist in the âPass me da micâ singing competition sponsored by Kris Kelley of FM98, WJLB radio station in Detroit. She brings to the group a sultry soprano sound.
Gregory Robinson, the oldest of nine children, was born in Detroit, Michigan. He started singing at the age of nine years in the church choir. At twelve years old he did his first talent show and won third place. Gregory has an ear for music; not only can he sing, he also plays drums and keyboards. As Gregory grew in talent, he began to sing behind rappers and singers in Detroit until the day he was asked to join Cross Generation. With his falsetto sound, Gregory carries the harmony in the group.
Vondell L. Wilkerson, also a native of Detroit, grew to love music at a young age when he would listen to music with his aunts and uncles. He also started his singing career in local talent shows in and around Detroit. Vondellâs distinct low end sound brings depth to the group.
To complete the group, there is David Townsend, also born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He, too, started his singing career by entering talent shows and singing at local events; his first at his middle school. His love for music has taken him all around Detroit. Davidâs interpretation and love for music echoes throughout this cd.
