Details:
"The Comforters and I have something in common. Besides the affinity for acoustic indie pop obviously. We both have a grandmother named Ruth; âTransplantsâ is dedicated to their Grandma Ruth and is an offering comprised of tender Americana pop with female vocals and roots rock earnestness. Very melodic, and extremely alluring. Pick it up."

- J-Sin Smother Magazine

The Comforters are Pia and Jason Robbins. They live in Eugene, Oregon with their dog, Walrus. Their songs mix roots tradition with pop melodies and vivid storytelling.

Their debut record, "Transplants", is a tastefully decorated home for nine tunes who have demonstrated that they can get along with each other for forty minutes at a go. âWe had to kick a couple of bullies outta the place", says Pia, âthey were pushing the others around.â âWeâve worked hard on crafting a record that has a unified soundâ, explains Jason, âeven if we wander around stylistically. With Pia â you know, she has such a beautiful voice that communicates so much, that itâs just painting around that with sounds and textures.â

The irony is that, while on the surface there is an air of tranquility and endless calm to the album, the songs reveal an unsettling dead-calm that is the backdrop to affairs, depression, heartbreak, alienation and yes, some negative things as well. âItâs true,â says Pia, âwe do like to think weâve found a way to put the 'forte' back in The Comforters.â

The Comforters recorded "Transplants" at their own Big Timbre Studio in Eugene. Jason has engineered and produced records by artists such as Dwight Yoakam, Pete Anderson, Michelle Shocked and Curt Kirkwood.

The Comforters have quickly found ears tuned to the bittersweet in life. The first song they previewed online, "Lazy Sundays", garnered radio play on radio shows across the U.S. âThe response has been greatâ, says Jason, âand itâs a real kick in the pants knowing ahead of time that people weâve never met in person are looking forward to the record coming out.â
