Colleen Muriel, A.R.C.T., Bachelor of Music, F.T.C.L., (F.R.S.M. - near completion) has been performing for many years. She currently has her own concert series at Holy Rosary Cathedral, and plays in the CCD Chamber Ensemble, which she also manages. She has studied and performed in England, Wales, Canada and the United States; has won a number of local competitions and played on CBC radio. In July 2005 she performed Le Merle Noir by Messiaen and Kurt Weill's violin concerto No. 12. at the Aberystwyth music festival in Wales. This fall she will be participating in the Master's Program for Flute Performance at Trinity College of Music, London, England.
Some of Colleen's most recent compositions, Fantasia and Ricercare for organ, Transformed (soprano/piano) and Rainfall for piano, have been performed at St. Andrews Cathedral in Sydney, Australia, Holy Rosary Cathedral, Vancouver, the Silk Purse Arts Centre, West Vancouver, BC., and at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth campus. This March her newest piece "Vancouver Rain" for solo piano was performed at the Sonic Boom Festival in Vancouver, Canada and at UBC by the outstanding pianist Rachel Iwaasa.
Fantasia and Ricercare have just recently (September 30, 2006) been recorded on DVD at the St. Peter and St. Paul Parish Church of Bromley, Kent (England) by Dr. Wilbur Hughes. Dr. Hughes also performed this piece at St. Andrews Cathedral in Sydney Australia in August 6, 2004 and again on August 25, 2006.
Colleen has just started her own recording label called El Flauto Records which will have two CD's out this summer. The First CD titled "Just As I Am" is a CD of selected live performances given at Holy Rosary Cathedral and the second CD titled "Vancouver Rain" is a collection of original keyboard works performed by David Hamilton and Rachel Iwaasa .
In 2008 she is very privileged to be recording in London, England a brand new piece for flute and orchestra composed by Vancouver musician Mark Armanini, Rodrigo's "Concierto Pastoral" and another new work for flute and orchestra by one of Britians most distinguished and distinctive pianists Julian Jacobson called "Vers la Valse".
