JAZZ: Jazz Fusion, LATIN: Latin Jazz
Details:
Carolineâs Capuchin has always defied convention. Their music has the elegance and passion of Jazz, the groove of Funk, the percussive magic of Latin and the hard-edged distorted sounds of rock wrapped up into a 4-piece package. Their live performances are a paradox for any audience as the music swirls out in intense sheets of dramatic profundo and are punctuated with light-hearted improvisation and repartee.
Formed in December â04, they have evolved from the Jazz/Drum ân Bass music found on their self-titled debut EP into the massive sound you can hear on their new album âFor What?â which includes a full sized percussion section, electronic drum samples and heavily modified bass and keyboard sounds.
The 11 tracks on the new album âFor What?â display the bandâs ability to perform a variety of styles and the music provokes the full gambit of emotions. From the African drumming on âCountdown To A Familiar Faceâ, the 70âs funk on the hidden track âTheme From Bagnuttâ, subtle jazz melodies on âFor What?â and fast paced Drum nâ Bass on 'Cairo Dead & Breakfastâ the listener is truly moved and grooved through a turbulent flight that spans the world and the musical spectrum.
The bandâs expansive fan base talks about Carolineâs Capuchinâs live show as if it were legend already. Caroline's Capuchin never fails to impress on stage often incorporating impressive light shows with spine tingling performances. If you're lucky enough to be in the audience and have the presence of mind to look around you then you will see silent smiles in the darkness and possibly a laughing tear. Very few bands manage to evoke such responses from human beings with the pure passion they have for the music they play.
'For What?' is the long awaited, self financed debut album from Carolineâs Capuchin - but the ride doesn't stop there. Larger shows and more touring is planned for the future. The eager and enthusiastic response from the fans for the album has been staggeringly heartfelt and that resolves CC even more to push the boundaries of music and bring people together.
Karl Evans â Bass
Mark âSpedâ Evans â Percussion
Aidan Hampson â Keys
Rob Hampson â Drums
