With their dark, off-kilter pop whir, Cassavetes hit the southeast music scene in 2005 producing a dreamy and seductive blend of impulsive rock songs that are as murky as they are innovative and beautiful. Mining a deep, cerebral landscape they expose raw

Details:
Once upon a time there were two strapping young lads. Robbie Horlick played the guitar and fancied himself a singer with much skill at the craft of song. His mate, Cary Henderson, was a drummer with a love for fine wine and the manipulation of sound through electronic gadgets. In the dire days of 2002, the two young men vowed to form a band capable of heartening low spirits. Time passed along merrily as the boys devised the sonic landscape that would eventually come to be known as Cassavetes. In 2005, while trekking through a peat marsh in search of rare fungi, they came across a comely gentleman of mid-western derivation. He responded to the name Tyler Woodstrom and proved to possess much skill at the keyboard and guitar. The three traveled together for months, meeting interesting people and having exciting journeys along the way (the tales of which formulate a tome far too expansive for this brief literary composition). Driven by an acute desire for low frequency modulation, the boys soon put out a call for a bassist with perfect hair... a call which was answered by dashing Atlanta playboy Jay Pollard.

Now united in an effort to subdue the jaded pop masses, the four set off across the southeast proclaiming victories along side like-minded acts such as Alaska, Dixie Dirt and Mazarin. The boys soon found themselves being characterized by scribes of journalistic ilk in manners such as "dark and off-kilter pop whir", "dreamy and seductive", and "mining a deep, cerebral landscape"... phrases which pleased their complex and enigmatic intellectual propensity. Inebriated with hope and purpose, the Cassavetes entered the studio to record their debut album with laudable audio maven Jimmy Ether and inked a deal with his Headphone Treats imprint. These sessions culminated in the nine-song opus Funny Story, which was released July, 18th 2006.
