Details:
Javier Molina, better known as Mr. Cowboy Cumbia, was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. His blockbuster hit record âCowboy Cumbiaâ won him 3 Tejano Music Awards in 1999 (for Best Tejano Country, Best Tejano Crossover, and Best Bilingual Song).
This album entitled âCOWBOY CUMBIAâ with Javier Molina & Eldorado is the original record, and Javier is the sole exclusive owner of all the copyrights to this entire album. He is officially re-releasing this record due to popular demand. This Cowboy Cumbia record item on CD Baby is the only legitimate and authorized CD product of its kind in the market.
In 1998 when almost all the new and upcoming Tejano, Grupero, and Norteño artists sounded the same and were trying to copy the sound and style of other established groups, along came Javier Molina with a fresh new sound of country-style nd feel-good Tejano cumbias.
With his original and unique country-flavored style of cumbia music, Javier Molina wrote the words and the music to his phenomenal hit song: "Cowboy Cumbia" (a Tejano Country tune sung in english and spanish and highlighted by Javier's country-flavored vocals).
The title song "Cowboy Cumbia" is an incredibly catchy dance song that caught the music industry by storm. This is the original CD first released by Javierâs very own record label Bandera Records of Laredo, Texas in February of 1998.
With a contagious, down-on-the-farm type of cumbia beat and punctuated by very memorable and catchy phrases, this song is continuously attracting whole new generations of accordion music lovers.
On Friday June 12, 1998 ... Javier Molina was the opening act for Ramon Ayala Y Los Bravos Del Norte in front of over 7,000 spectators at the Silverado Rodeo in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. On that special evening, Ramon Ayala publicly took Javier under his wings and officially became his music "Padrino" (Godfather) and helped launch his career.
Javier has made many appearances in television programs and special events such as: Despierta America, Al Fin De Semana, Johnny Canales, Caliente, Festival Acapulco, Feria San Marcos, Tejano Music Awards, Furia Musical, and many more.
Cowboy Cumbia formed his band Eldorado in November 1996. Being a bordertown kid, Javier grew up listening to Mariachi, Trio, Tejano, Norteño, Rock & Roll, Latin Rock, and most of all Country music. His biggest musical influences have been Pedro Infante, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Conjunto Bernal, Relampagos Del Norte, Rigo Tovar, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, George Jones, The Beatles, and The Eagles.
In September of 2002, after being healed of a tumor in his spine through prayer and faith, Javier retired from the popular music industry and dedicated himself to singing Christian music and doing missionary work primarily in Mexico. His music style remains the same but with a very Christ-centered message. With a new message and a new mission, Cowboy Cumbia is now traveling and performing more than ever all across the USA and Mexico. He can be found on Facebook
