James Michael Kulakowski better known by his stage name J Beta is an American singer, songwriter, arranger, and musician specializing in Pop and R&B music. Born June 25th, 1983 in Syracuse, NY into an artistic family Beta's mother, father, and sister all played piano while his eldest brother was a commerical artist.

Beta showed glimmers of instrumental prowess at the age of 8 taking weekly lessons and performing in piano recitals. At the age of 12 he focused his attention on learning how to play the drum set and then again at 16 on the guitar. At 21, Beta earned his Associate's degree in classical guitar with a minor in piano and music theory.

Although Beta is a talented vocalist and instrumentalist, he always envisioned himself as a writer. He spent years collaborating with other artists and co-writing songs eventually realizing the only way to produce songs the way he wanted to hear them was to perform them himself. He has gone on to write over 40 songs and publish multiple albums. Additionally, he works with several producers and independent artists including Los Foley of 5150, Dutch Beetz, BlesDchil, and many more.

J Beta believes in non-complacency in regards to his writing, understanding there is always room to grow and improve. He considers himself a beta (1.0) version of himself serving as inspiration for his stage name.
