Recorded between 1995 and 2000, the debut CD from The Curtis Sumter Project features several line-ups the ever-changing Project had during these years. A work in progress, The Project's foundation is band leader, drummer, and vocalist, Curtis Sumter. Other core members include vocalist, Cathy Davis; bassist, Paul "Big Daddy" Baker; and guitarist, Motor City Josh. This blues "Supergroup" went on to form several of Detroit's top blues acts including: the Soul Searchers, Motor City Josh & The Big Three, and of course the Curtis Sumter Project.
