Clifton Lee Johnston is a rare type of songwriter.
Some performing songwriters strive so hard to be unique or different that their songs can seem artsy or inaccessible. Others try so hard to sound like everyone else that they succeed. But Clif manages to write songs that are original and familiar at the same time.
Some have said that his songs are memorable from the first listen, and in fact his audiences have been known to join in and sing along with songs they were hearing for the first time. Clif's songs are an eclectic mix of folk, blues and country - without leaning too heavily on any one style.
Clif moved to Seattle in 1996 with just a guitar and a duffle bag full of clothes, and began playing original songs on the singer-songwriter circuit. He recorded Live at Jet City, a 6-song EP, in 1998 and is currently working on his first full-length release.
