SWEET TEEN KILLING MACHINE - BIO

Self-described as "horror-rock," Portland, Oregon-based, hard-hitting, heavy rock act Sweet Teen Killing Machine deliver an exhilarating, self-titled full-length. Comprised of ten tracks, the album delivers melodic, yet hard-rock, each song the soundtrack to a fictitious horror movie.

Made up of Scott Chapin (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards), Paul Becker (guitar), Kevin Ellis (keyboards), and Cheo Larcombe (drums), Sweet Teen Killing Machine make guitar-rock that is as frightening as it is
heart-pounding.

"Sweet Teen Killing Machine is not so much a band as it is a concept," states vocalist Scott Chapin. "The first album is ten soundtracks to horror movies that donât exist. Everyone has its own story. From the supernatural horror of "Curse of the Bloodwolf" and "City of the Shrieking Dead" to the more human terror of "Virgin White" and "New Meat." The music of Sweet Teen Killing Machine can only be described as the sound of an insane rock beast that always seem to be chasing you."

That doesn't take anything away from the debut, though.

"[With this record] we hope to redefine the concept of a band," adds Chapin, further discussing the recording-project-turned-band's debut full-length. "We create music instead of rehearsing it. We would also like to get into traditional soundtracks."

With redefining the concept of a band comes a different approach to writing music, though. Something Chapin is quick to explain.

"When we write we take a scenario and write the music to fit," he says. "For example, if someone is being killed or chased the music should reflect that."

Originally a basement project between friends, jamming and having a good time, Sweet Teen Killing Machine's debut grew out mutual interest, good times, and drinks. With no initial plan to commercially release a record, just record for fun and watch the songs take shape, the band was so happy with the ten tracks that comprise their debut full-length, they couldn't help but release it.

"I was surprised how cohesive it sounds," Chapin says of the record. "Considering they were written so far apart from one another."

With one live show planned for a CD release, and the elusive possibility of more - if the band feels so inclined - Sweet Teen Killing Machine is as unpredictable as the horror movie patrons they write sounds for.

But, one thing is known for sure, all the members are happy with the debut, and are letting the music, not business or forced goals, dictate where the project goes.

"The highlight for me is the song 'City of the Shrieking Dead,'" comments Chapin. "It has so many 'soundtrack' sounding parts and builds and releases very well. Its heavy without being metal, hooky without being pop."

Now, without a live show schedule to bog them down, and only more music to create, what is in the future for Sweet Teen Killing Machine?

Well, before they've even commercially-released their debut, they've almost entirely got a sophomore full-length record. Taking a lot of lessons from the debut and helping to ensure they're as happy, or happier, with the follow-up.

"We wanted to write a concept album the first time around but started with songs and tried to fit the concept to them. The next record, we're doing it the other way around and it so far it's working so much better," Chapin says, discussing the future of the band.

Now, with the commercial release of the the album on the horizon, what is next for Sweet Teen Killing Machine? More records, more music, more fun. Beyond that? It's anyone's guess.
