Geisha Hit Squad is latest musical endeavor of Atlanta musician Eric Jennings. He created GHS as an umbrella to cover his songwriting, recording and performing. The kaleidoscope of influences range from; Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, The Who and Peter Gabriel, to Jawbreaker, The Psychedelic Furs, The Smiths, The Cure, Catherine Wheel, Tool and Radiohead. The characteristic Geisha Hit Squad shares with all of these influences is the unique charismatic vocal sound combined with well-crafted complementary guitar playing. His signature sound beautifully showcases the poignant, heart-felt, introspective aspects of life, while leaving the lyrics up to the listenerâs interpretation.

Originally from eastern North Carolina, Eric spent his early musical career as a part of the local music scene in the Raleigh-Durham/Chapel Hill area. At the time the area was truly a music mecca, led by such bands as The Veldt, The Connells, Dillon Fence, Archers of Loaf, The Sex Police, Polvo, and Johnny Quest, to name a few. For over three years he toured the east coast as lead guitarist for the Reggae band The Amateurs. From there he moved on to join neo-psychedelic, alternative rock band Drivetrain.

In 2003 Eric moved to Atlanta and played in power trio Black Light District. After three years in BLD Eric decided it was time to start a project where he could focus on his own original music with complete creative control. As a result Geisha Hit Squad is born! Soon he set up The Blue Room, his first official home recording studio, and there he partially recorded, engineered, and produced GHSâs first EP A Stolen Moment. At the same time, Eric was able to recruit talented local musicians to fill out the sound at live performances.

The Fall of 2009 and the Spring of 2010 found Eric on the road traveling from Miami to Raleigh doing acoustic shows throughout the southeast. His good friend Nathan Sexton would join him when he could, providing keys, backing vocals and acoustic guitar. All of the shows have been very special, and some of the high points were playing in front of 2000 people at the Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville, FL. and the Fishing Creek Reunion just outside of Ericâs hometown Tarboro, NC.

Funding for this album came via a highly successful Kickstarter campaign. Over 70 supporters, thru pre-purchasing or donating, contributed over $4000.00 to see the recording and production GHS merchandise come to fruition. He describes the experience as ârewarding and motivating that so many people would stand behind my music in such a wayâ.

In the future fans will be able to see Geisha Hit Squad in its band incarnation at more and more events. Also, live recordings, videos and creative GHS branded gear will become available online for fans near and far to enjoy. We will see you soon!
