An incredible debut EP packed with upbeat, fast-based with the occasional hint of a breakdown. Even a ballad thrown in at the end for good measure.

People who are interested in Against Me! Green Day Hundred Reasons should consider this download.
Details:
The debut effort from this Brighton, UK based quartet. They have been described as "up-beat punky alternative rock with bite" and its clear they are influenced from many directions as the record flows from riffing guitars to soaring vocals to, almost metallic, breakdowns.
"Arrogant Innocent" kicks off the EP with a clear and in-your-face statement of intent. The lyrics do not mix their words and the hook-laden chorus is juxtaposed against a verse of fast paced guitars.
Even with the somewhat dark lyrical content "Cloudy Skies and Empty Rooms", maintains the upbeat momentum with more guitar riffage and a chorus clearly meant to get the crowds chanting along.
The band return to some rock roots with "Back Here Again". Opening with a storming riff the song moves on to give a, clearly quite personal, account of the highs and lows of the music business. The chorus grants the song a much grander scale than some of the other songs, which then drops into a breakdown showcasing some of the band's metal influences. The song then shifts a gear for a fast paced ending.
The best word to describe "Too Far Gone" would be "punchy". The song moves from clipped, growly verses to smooth flowing choruses with simple strokes and then into a middle section which is brutal in its shift from technical riff to huge wall of sound. With no pause for breath we are dropped right back into a final round of the chorus, with a twist in the shape of overlapping vocals.
The intro to "Finally Falling" is a dramatic shift as we are greeted with simple acoustic guitars and vocal melody. However just as you think it will be a paint by numbers ballad the song turns 180 degrees and searing guitar riffs preclude a fast, punky variation of the chorus. There remains one more surprise as the acoustic guitars return with an echoing voice to close the EP.
