FOWLER AND BRANCA

Bob Fowler and Steve Branca began composing for the POP / R&B market and surprisingly had a couple of their songs revamped as instrumentals and included on JAZZ albums of other artists. That set them on a new path and eventually the independent label SilverWave Records in Boulder, Colorado signed them for a multi-album contract. They recorded three CDs with SWR over a five-year period, all of which are distributed internationally in retail stores, on-line and through commercial music libraries.

Together they write and produce all of their original music at SSR Recording in Smithville, NJ, which Bob owns and operates. Bob and Steve play most of the parts on their tracks, but are aided by extremely talented musician friends.

Bob Fowler plays fretted and fretless bass, guitar, keyboards and drum programming, and is the recording engineer behind the F&B sound.

Steve Branca plays electric, acoustic, and nylon guitars, mandolin, and keyboards, and is the graphic designer of their CD packaging and website: www.fowlerandbranca.com.

The Beatles, Moody Blues, Jimmy Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Weather Report, Yellow Jackets, Pat Metheny and many more great artists, influenced their eclectic, multi-faceted song-writing style.â¨

Fowler and Brancaâs NEW CD, âIf Wishes Were Horses, Beggars Would Rideâ, is their best effort to date and marks a new beginning for the duo after a long writing hiatus. This album is the ultimate representation of their diverse musical style. âIf Wishesâ¦â features more up-tempo tracks and edgier sounds than previous albums. Itâs the most experimental, yet most universally appealing of their CDs. A few new instruments have been incorporated to their trademark sound. Steve picked up the mandolin â an instrument that lends itself to more than typical country music applications. Bobâs bass is featured on more melodies and heâs soloing more on fretted and fretless. Bob also plays nylon guitar on a few tracks.

Recording History

In 1990 Fowler and Branca signed on with Silver Wave Records (Boulder, CO) and released their first CD "The Face On Cydonia" in November of 1991. Radio stations in the U.S. and abroad received the Album favorably, reaching into the Top-15 on all the NAC/AA national charts and to #9 in GAVIN. Music from "TFOC" was also used on several cable-network TV shows such as "Life Styles of the Rich and Famous" and "The Weather Channel."

"Etched In Stone," was released in March of '93. It shot into the Top 15 on NAC/AA charts within three weeks of its release and made it into the Top 10, reaching as high as #7 by week 9 of its promotion. It also reached #17 on Billboardâs New Age chart and remained in the Top 20 for more than 15 weeks. "Etched in Stone" was also aired on "The Weather Channel" and "Life Styles..." as well as "The CBS Cable Radio Network" and the In-Flight programming for major airlines. The highest honor was when "Etched..." was considered for a Grammy nomination in the category of Best New Age Album for 1993.

1995 marked the release of Fowler and Branca's third CD "Three Flights Up." That year Fowler and Branca also appeared in their first live concert performance at "The Berks Jazz Festival" in Reading, PA on March 22, 1995 opening for Andy Narell and his âCaribbean Jazz Projectâ. They performed music from all three CDs to a sold-out crowd of over 1,500.

In the fall of 1997 Fowler and Branca were honored to have one of their songs included in a widely distributed compilation CD entitled "Full Moon." They are joined by World Music legends John Tesh, Suzanne Ciani, Ottmar Liebert, Patrick O'Hearn and other notables.

Almost two years of work resulted in Fowler and Branca's fourth CDâ¦"Real Nice Ride." Not abandoning trademark style, this collection displays broad musical variety. Though styles range from Jazz, R&B, Latin, and World, there is still a feeling of relationship between each song. "Real Nice Ride" incorporates memorable melodies, enticing rhythms, and has the emotional energy to engage any listener regardless of musical preference.
