After borrowing a trusty Tascam 4-track to demo one of their first songs, Torontoâs Persian Rugs found themselves inexplicably plucked from MySpace obscurity by Pitchfork, who showcased the âwinsome cut,â Always All, on their Forkcast. Given their solid song craft and rough and tumble charm, it is no surprise the four-piece is drawing attention.

With songs informed by C-86-era indie pop, 1960s vinyl collector vintage, and 90s indie-rock touchstones, Persian Rugs cover âa wide scope, from ebullient power-pop to shoegaze revivalism,â cramming âinto their sound pop melodies, dreamy lounge grooves, and hazy walls of feedback, capped off with rich synth touchesâ (Ben LV, Exclaim! blog network).

Ian Jackson (of The Airfields and The Diableros) formed the band in the summer of 2009, enlisting the help of longtime friends and former band mates Ali Sunderji (The Airfields) on bass, and Matt Rubba (The Diableros) on drums. Newcomer Kaye Hamilton joined shortly thereafter on keyboard via a friend's suggestion.

Persian Rugsâ much anticipated debut release brings the song that put them on the radar â Always All â to wax, and showcases the bands diverse songwriting strengths.

âAlways All,â a 7â single with a digital EP, features the studio version of Always All, and three other new songs.

Recorded and mixed by Barry Weatherhead (Planet Creature) and mastered by Jon Drew (Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up, Two Koreas) the record, limited to 500 copies, is out May 17, 2011 on Cloudberry Records.
