With the success of her sizzling hit single âRock Steadyâthriving, music nominations/awards, and an impatient thirst from fans both nationally and internationally, young talent Diâja (born Hadizah Blell) is well on her way to unstoppable success in the music industry. In just a mere two years, the multi-faceted Diâja has been able to seal a solid signature sound that merges Pop, R&B and a hint of Reggae, as well as a steadily growing buzz from coast to coastâliterally.
Diâjaâs sultry blend of Nigerian, Sierra Leonean and Lebanese roots played a big role in her upbringing, which has helped shape and mold the young starlet in the making. Understanding early on that embodying both beauty and brains holds a heavier weight, Diâja attained a double degree in Psychology and Biology before pursuing what she knew was her destinyâEntertainment.
Unlike many up-and-coming artists whoâve had to struggle long before ever seeing any progress, the stellar singer has been fortunate enough to taste the rewards of some of her efforts early on. Having harvested her musical career in Canada, Diâja got her first breakthrough opportunity after winning Vancouverâs The Beat 94.5FM music talent contest in 2008, which led to her production deal with the world renowned, Rockstar Music Corp. Shortly after, she collaborated with hit-makers, Adam H., The BananaToons, and SA Trackworks (Jessica Simpson, The Corrs, Kelly Rowland, George Clinton, Elise Estrada, LiveOnArrival) to birth what stamped her certifiedâher debut single âRock Steadyâ. Since then Diâja has been nominated for the Best Urban/R&B Single at the 2009 Canadian Radio Music Awards and in April of 2010, got the chance of a lifetime when she performed at music mogul, Akonâs concert in Sierra Leone.
Currently, Diâja is rocking the U.S. with show after show, and working on her debut album slated to be released in 2011. Her collaboration with the producer HAZE, has proven to be a success as, PRIVATE SHOW has proven to be catchy.
While many would feel content with Diâjaâs current track record, this marks just the beginning for the ambitious singer. âI cannot tell you what the future holds, but I can tell you that with the help of the Almighty, nothing is impossible,â says Diâja. âAll I can say is 2011 has more than enough surprises.â
