Ca7 is the 7th album studio for Bepi & The Prismas, 12th in total, considering live records and best of and, one time more, it introduces itself with a short rebus title.
Itâs easy to find number 7, but the word âcasètâ too (in dialect it means drawer).
In the drawer normally you put a lot of things: new songs, but old songs that you didnât want to lose too or forgotten songs, why not.
Ca7 is really a so made record: it catches songs from rare records (âMao âllâümidità swingâ or âE cante chiâ), old songs played live, but never recorded (âFunky Spotsâ o âTurne dala mé zèntâ, the last one sung in Brescia dialect with Charlie Cinelli, who was Charlie & The Catsâ leader, an important, provocative page, considering the old, famous spite between the 2 provinces, double versions-songs ((âGnurantâ and âOldrantââ¦).
But most of all youâll find new songs because there goes peopleâs attention.
In typical Bepi & The Prismas style are some songs where itâs easy to laugh soon, but with a lot of things to reflect on analyzing the text with attention: about costume lawfulness (âCoca e Havanaâ and âBrasilâ, this one introduced by the famous baritone Gabriele Nani), about economic crisis that exacerbates the relation between creditor and debtor (âDebet Songâ e âCredet Songâ) or, very current and burning theme, about the Italy unit (âViva lâItaliaâ), exception song because almost all sung in Italian and with a strong sarcastic taste.
In few word the meaning is: âbefore coming to impose to wave the flag of a community you must make us feeling part of this communityâ.
There are some light songs too, with a taste more similar to cabaret: âChe figo quello lìâ (in Italian)
Is the most important of this group because arranged in 30âs years style, near to genres as âliscioâ, with a lot of foreseeable and a little bit boorish double meanings.
Always in Italian (an exception because Bepi sings normally in strict dialect) âAutofficina Conte Fabrizioâ, ironic ribbing of the famous singersâ sons who always do exactly what their fathers did!
âLa baristaâ is a tribute to one of the most important rules in province-bars and âMotosega 7â is the normal trademark opening the CD, just as the final is always with the telephone dialogues between Tony Tranquillo and Bepi.
Two words about the recordâs production: itâs surely the best work of Bepi & The Prismas: they recorded in 6 different studios with different phonic depending on the genre the were playing; in the Cd youâll find the Prismas (Stefano il Guidone Orobico-drums, Bobo A4-bass, Stefano lâAnimale da cortile and Stephan Còchet - guitars)but a lot of other important names too: the classic musicians
Damiano Rota at piano, Vincenzo Albini, Marco Lorenzi and Flavio Bombardieri at strings, Guido Poni, Gigi Ghezzi and Guido Tacchini at brass section, Nirvano Barbon at banjio, Eugenio Poppi at pedal steel guitar and the soprano Marta Calcaterra, famous to played on Radio 1 RAI the comic rule of Maria Caracallas.
At the end the packaging: the CD-pack is a folded old country shirt and, in the deluxe edition, it lays in a real birch drawer, with name of the band and title carved on, numbered and signed by hand one by one. Inside the CD, the Ca7 t-shirt and a sticker.

Ca7 (casèt) è il 7° lavoro in studio di Bepi & The Prismas, il 12° in totale, contando anche i live e le raccolte, e ancora una volta si propone con un titolo in formato âpiccolo rebusâ.
Oltre al ravvisabilissimo 7 è presente, appunto, la parola âcasètâ (âcassettoâ in bergamasco) dove, infatti, finisce di tutto: roba nuova, ma anche roba vecchia della quale non ci si voleva privare o ancora roba dimenticataâ¦
Ca7 si presenta proprio così: recupera brani da dischi ormai introvabili (âMao âllâümidità swingâ o âE cante chiâ), pezzi del passato eseguiti dal vivo, ma mai incisi (âFunky Spotsâ o âTurne dala mé zèntâ, questâultimo cantato in bresciano col suo autore, il celebre collega Charlie Cinelli, già leader dei Charlie & The Cats, ed importante pagina provocatoria, essendo ormai risaputo il vivo ed assurdo astio tra le due province), brani in duplice versione (âGnurantâ e âOldrantââ¦).
Ma soprattutto ci sono brani nuovi, ovviamente, perché è lì che va lâattenzione della gente.
In completo stile Bepi & The Prismas appaiono certe canzoni nelle quali, dietro la risata dâacchito, si nascondono molteplici spunti di riflessione: sulla liceità dei costumi (âCoca e Havanaâ e âBrasilâ, questâultima introdotta dal grande baritono Gabriele Nani), sulla crisi economica che esaspera il rapporto debitore/creditore (âDebet Songâ e âCredet Songâ) o, tema attualissimo e scottante, sullâUnità dâItalia (âViva lâItaliaâ), pezzo che rappresenta unâeccezione in quanto praticamente tutto in italiano e dallo spiccato valore sarcastico. In buona sostanza il messaggio è: âPrima di venire a imporci di sventolare i vessilli di una comunità bisogna farci sentire parte della stessaâ.
Non mancano le consuete parentesi âleggereâ, decisamente più votate al cabaret: âChe figo quello lìâ (in italiano) svetta in quanto arrangiata in stile anni â30, strizzando a tratti lâocchio al liscio e ai suoi doppisensi a volte, ammettiamolo, un poâ prevedibili e burini.
Sempre in italiano (unâeccezione avendo sempre cantato il Bepi in bergamasco stretto) âAutofficina Conte Fabrizioâ, ironica, breve presa per i fondelli dei figli dei cantanti che mai una volta che non seguano come cagnolini il sentiero dei padri!
âLa baristaâ è un tributo a una delle figure cardine dei bar di provincia mentre âMotosega 7â è il marchio di fabbrica che non può mancare ad aprire un album dei nostri, proprio come in fondo non possono mancare le consuete âtelefonateâ tra il Bepi, mascherato da 1000 personaggi, e il DJ Tony Tranquillo.
Due parole sulla produzione del disco. Musicalmente è sicuramente il lavoro più curato di Bepi & The Prismas: sono stati utilizzati ben 6 diversi studi di registrazione e fonici ad hoc, a seconda del sound che serviva; sono presenti, oltre ai Prismas (Stefano il Guidone Orobico alla batteria, Bobo A4 al basso, Stefano lâAnimale da cortile e Stephan Còchet alle chitarre), nomi importanti quali i musicisti classici Damiano Rota al pianoforte, Vincenzo Albini, Marco Lorenzi e Flavio Bombardieri agli archi, Guido Poni, Gigi Ghezzi e Guido Tacchini agli ottoni, Nirvano Barbon al banjio, Eugenio Poppi alla pedal steel guitar e la soprano Marta Calcaterra, famosa per aver vestito i panni su Radio 1 del personaggio comico Maria Caracallas.
Infine il packaging. Il CD-pack si presenta originalmente piegato orizzontalmente come una camicia old country e, nella versione deluxe, tale camicia alloggia in un vero cassetto di legno di betulla, con incisi nome della band e titolo, numerati e firmati a mano uno ad uno, contenenti, oltre al CD, anche una t-shirt-evento e un adesivo.
