Details:
Contemporary Jazz guitarist Chuck Dunlap comes to us from a R&B background. This native Washingtonianâs interest in the guitar was inspired in the late 70âs by Tony, the lead guitarist and bandleader for the Delfonics. Chuck considers himself a late comer to the music industry. He picked up the guitar for the first time at the age of 22. Former guitarist Vincent Eaglin turned Chuck on to chord changes and opened his mind to the awesome beauty and sound generated by this stringed instrument.
Chuck further developed his ear for music by listening to contemporary sounds with a special interest in the styles of his all time guitar heroes, Wes Montgomery and George Benson. He has been the rhythm/lead guitarist with various bands opening up for headliner acts such as Regina Bell, the Chi-lites and the Delfonics.
Chuck was formerly with the R&B Band, Exquisite, which led to his meeting Marcus H. Mitchell. He soon became a member of the Marcus H. Mitchell Project, a popular jazz group. He continues to play with this group, which has opened for such internationally known artists as Alex Bugnon, Paul Taylor, Peter White, and the Rippingtons featuring Russ Freeman. Chuck is currently writing and performing original material. He debuted his first CD project âPulseâ to a standing room only audience on March 1, 2006 at Reggie's Cafe in Bowie, Maryland. This CD has a fantastic blend of rhythms with funky grooves that feature both heady and danceable cuts.
