In the dusk the day ends and the hunger begins with the Last Days of Beauty.

11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 90's Rock, POP: Power Pop

Details:
In 1999 USER hit the studio once more and after 10 months of obsessive tracking, The Last Days of Beauty evolved into a collection of 11 battered songs. Mixed by the uncomparable VINCE JONES (Dave Gahan, POD, John Bottomley, Pink, Wakefield, 6 Gig, ZooStory, AudioVent, Cowboy Junkies, Hootsabank) at Unkle Vinkies House of Snakes in Vancouver BC and with session men drummer Pat Haviisto And bassist Dave Lee laying down all the drums and bass, Al USER lights up with vocals keyboard and gibson guitar.
Style wise, as compared to USERS 1996 debut "Semi-Mental Journey", Last Days digs further into the rock element with more fused layered keyboard textures, masterful violins, more explorative beats and great bass lines, lyrics are cutting and poetic without the wordiness of the self-immortalizing whiners.
AL USER moans that "this was a very difficult album to finish, in that a long term relationship crashed while I was tracking the vocals and when something like that happens, everything seems sensless, I was pretty well in a very dark world, I really did not have the energy to finish it, basically running on empty"

But it did get finished.
Everywhere on this disc you will find the art of album
making, sadly an artform that is dying as our all consumer society demands the single serving music menu-eat and move to the next flavor, but sometimes the beginning must be savored with an ending to really feel satiated.
From the opening track "Downers" a corkscrew dive into a blender of emotions, the throw it all off and wash the floor attitude of "Slave" while "Invisible Dream" snakes along a path not seen too much in modern music, the tender jerkiness of "Wilted" and foreshadowing apocalyptic industrial "RubberAss" adds up to make The Last Days of Beauty one slice of Manna.
