"PIANOFORTE WORKS"

"Pianoforte" (Italian : "soft-loud"), as well interchangeably "Fortepiano" (Italian : "loud-soft") are the extended formal names for the modern piano.

Both denominations are derived from the original Italian name for the instrument invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori of Florence, Italy by the year 1700 : gravecembalo col (or di) piano e forte, "harpsichord with soft and loud".

Like many other inventions the pianoforte was founded on earlier technological innovations, and after three centuries of further developments the pianoforte has achieved huge changes not only in its design, but also forced musical performers and listeners to be confronted in to explore the advantages, disadvantages, limitations and new possibilities in each new version of this instrument.

Technological innovations in the recently history (from XX century) have contributed for additional improvements to the modern piano. New pianoforte versions like : Player piano, Piano roll, Prepared piano, Electric piano, Rhodes piano, Stage piano, Digital piano ( rompler and sampler) and computer controlled pianos (e.g. Yamaha Disklavier ; Borsendörfer), are examples as how technology has contributed for radical changes to the physical and acoustic design of the instrument.

In this album, listeners have the opportunity to hear and again to be confronted with several pieces performed on traditional acoustic piano, computer controlled piano, as well on digital piano samples. The common point between all these performances lays on the fact, that they were intentionally composed to be performed by a computer system, in which the goals of the composer was to achieve a high level of expression and listener satisfaction.
