These songs are TRAUMA SURVIVOR SONGS.
They are intended especially (but not exclusively) for those with PTSD, MPD, or Post 9/11 Stress (although they are not on any single topic).

WARNING: Listeners should be aware that the songs on this CD may be disturbing or upsetting. The themes concern things that many survivors of trauma may have experienced or witnessed: rape, incest, entrapment, imprisonment, and even murder. Most of all, they are about trauma to women. They express terror, rage, sorrow, and madness. Trauma survivors should listen with caution and may want to listen with a support person.

The songs are not intended as windows into my own personal history. Each song tells a different story, sometimes from multiple points of view or with multiple voices. The songs are intended to open gateways that have long been kept closed and hidden in our society. Through their honesty about forbidden topics and their search for true expression of silent but pervasive truths, they are intended to be used as part of a healing process, individual or collective.
