Who we are:
VeltSide Records is a company that was founded and is run by students from Roosevelt High School in the inner-city of St. Louis, MO. The students' teacher, Mr. Babcock, challenged his students to create and manage a successful company, and they responded with the very successful VeltSide Records. Surpassing every expectation set by the school, community, and even themselves, the students created a CD of professional quality from the cover to the last note. Every creative aspect of the self-titled VeltSide Records CD has been created by the students. The beats, the artwork, the lyrics, everything!

Our Music:
We take enormous amounts of pride in the quality and creation of our music. The 4 main students on the CD were chosen from over 40 students who auditioned from within Roosevelt High School. The artists spent three months preparing their music, while the business students were creating contacts and, in general, "making it happen." Our music is fresh, energetic, insightful, and intelligent as it depicts the true feelings and thoughts of teenagers growing up in the inner-city of St. Louis. We sincerely hope that you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!

How we did it:
For funding and guidance on technical issues, the students wrote endless letters and worked with many people from around the country. Providing most of the leadership and financial support were NFL running back Marshall Faulk, and Hip-Hop Superstar Nelly. Providing the technical support were companies such as Clayton Studios (Engineering - St. Louis), Triple Disc (Duplication - Virginia), and Masterfonics (Mastering - Tennessee). Others who helped in the process include a PR rep from Communication Partners, Pat Bolling, Alfonso from Alfonso's Limousine (all of our transportation), and DJ Cold-Zero (all from St. Louis).

Last words:
While we learned a lot, to say the least, about business and the recording industry in particular, we will not be satisfied if our work does nothing to benefit the school. Our athletic facilities are worn-down to the point where we have more dirt than grass on our fields, and our track is not visible through the weeds. All proceeds from the sale of our CD will go straight to resolving these problems and "leveling the playing field" amongst city schools and more affluent schools in St. Louis. We would really appreciate your support!
