21 vastly different Armenian and Australian songs sequenced like a story board; 'tis full throttle Mesrobian, patriotic and 'revolutionary [art] musique,' with 5 of them 'great grandma's forgotten songs,' and dessert is 3 select Australian ABBA-esqe hits.
21 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Middle East, POP: 70's Pop
Details:
REVOLUTIONARY MUSIC MADE FOR THE CHILDREN (age 1 to 9). Not Karnig Sarkissian, George Tutunjian, Giro Donabedian, Karen Chilingirian, or Sahak Sahakian. MARATOOG-like--maybe! The last few songs (esp. 14, 20, 21) are perhaps the most "pop" of the Armenian ones. "Close Your Eyes" and "Mi Amor" are favorites for lovers of late 1970's disco populaire musique: VANArmenya includes so-called GUEST ARTISTS: 'Mile High Club,' 'Suni,' and 'Akhtamar.' Their music is protected under the U.S.A. Copyright @2006 with VANArmenya, and are part of the same production if any music awards (e.g. Armenian Music Awards) are considered.
SONG 5, 13 and 17 are favorites of VANArmenya -- but from guest artist, future collaborator MILE HIGH CLUB (Australian ABBA - like disco or dance music which many Armenians enjoy).
SONG 6, 10, and 16 are from the world-famous Grikor Mirzaian SUNI music collection, the "forgotten Gomidas" of the Armenian culture. VANArmenya remixed the music and added subtle sounds to enhance the texture of the CD.
Song 4 is from the AKHTAMAR video, used with permission.
All the other songs (1-3, 6-9, 11, 13-15, 18-21) are VANArmenya, and feature the main singer (a male), a female singer (in her 20's) and an older woman (her grandmother).
DESCRIPTION:
ARMENIAN ROCK-FOLK-PATRIOTIC-REVOLUTIONARY ART MUSIC: Not alternative but VAN - Armenian 19th century originals in a 21st century way. It is meant to appeal to the modern ear with old-world tastes. Please listen to all the songs before making a decision on it. Each song logically flows into the next -- you'll agree if you understand Armenian motifs -- but each song is quite unique. This is not a homogenous collection.

Elderly Armenians were interviewed to make sure it was all right: they'll love this album more than the teenagers, perhaps! The music is a "relentless pummeling" of "certainly different" and "periodically ornate" music: listen twice and you'll be hooked for years. This type of music should be our mainstream, but instead it is in a "corner of CD BABY", while the masses engorge themselves in 3/3's. Two know-it-alls claimed it is not Armenian: "Ha!" You know where they can go. Newsflash: it is more Armenian than any album ever made. It also contains a 200 page book revealing the Armenian origins of the early Seljuks (Saljuqs). Yes, the TURKS Armenized themselves from DAY ONE. Read it. It was written by a PhD of history Robert Bedrosian, PhD!
The music is derived from patient thought, then critiqued, then reformed. It is something you can listen to for DECADES.
These are with one exception the way the songs were traditionally sung. This is not a distortion or a reckless experiment: it is a deeply personal, thoroughly-researched 18 year multimedia project.
--3 extra CD VIDEOS and
--a PDF file of COMPLETE LYRICS to most songs
-- the history 'book.'

Just because this or that famous Armenian singer sings this or that song HIS OR HER way does not mean that is the way MY grandparents from Van sang them. (Automaton simpletons often confuse the handy, ubiquitous distorted revolutionary song sung in a Helleno-Islamic style with the suppressed, ignored, less accessible, seemingly vaporized original versions which VANArmenya presents.
Do not blame such people for their ignorance. Just consider these are not alternative versions of Armenian revolutionary songs: instead, they are the modernized, correct versions and theirs is the distorted alternative versions).

Indeed, this CD presents the ABBA-like Mile High Club of Sydney, Australia (a band compared to the legendary disco/folk band!), plus a 200 page book on the Turco-Mongol invasion of Armenia. There is more: it also has 3 short MPEG FILES to boot! The music plays on CD players, and computers with Windows Media Player, etc., despite what the inside CD liner says.
LYRICS?
Translated and transliterated SONG LYRICS are featured too for most of the songs! {LYRICS are on both PDF [ADOBE ACROBAT] and WORD [DOCUMENT] files, for you.}

**PLEASE TURN YOUR HEADPHONES UP TO LEVEL 8 AND CLOSE YOUR EYES: WE WILL TRAVEL THERE TOGETHER**
Armenian music with a purpose: to infuse the teenager with a message of ethnic revival. [The multimedia CD comes with a 200 page virtual "book" that describes the events of 1071 AD to the 15th century, a time of Armenian history few people know well!) Read it on your computer screen, or print and read.
