When southern rock stops chugging moonshine and starts sipping aged bourbon, the hot-rod Lincoln in a Mercedes Sedan.
10 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Country Rock, ROCK: Americana
Details:
Pete Boone (yes theyâre related, please donât get him started) and Mike Weiss started playing together about the time the volume knob was invented. The first gig they played netted them four times what they made bagging groceries in a week and they never went back. The last cut on the disc âAll About the Musicâ written by Pete, chronicles the history that started this group. Listen for the surfinâ sound, the tribute to Chuck Berryâs guitar and the sound of âfull drawbarâ organ that is rock & roll. Twenty years and numerous musicians later they had the good fortune of joining forces with John Olson, a master slide and lead guitar player but also a most talented and introspective songwriter. After a couple of decades of playing biker bars, bar mitzvahs, bowling alley lounges and other peoples songs the band retreated into the rehearsal closet. Roger Konieczny, the best unknown blues harmonica player in the Twin Cities, had been playing with the band on and off forever and decided to add his harp and talents as a percussionist to the effort and with the addition of Michael Thornton a multi-talented drummer the closet was full and The Vanishing Road Band was cruzinâ. John introduced the band to a cross section of the songs he had been writing and through the process of arranging, re-arranging and producing over and over the course of months and months nine of the best were born onto this disc. From the lamentful âWings of Silverâ to the edgy blues of âOdd Man Inâ. The soulful âOut Goes the Rugâ and the punchy âSoft Talkinââ, and you just have to get up and dance to âBad Medicineâ,
its all there, the full spectrum of style and range of emotion. The Vanishing Road Band continues to expand its musical view and their debut disc âUnlikelyâ is the right place to hear the best of the best
