Details:
Mary Vasile, a Bosendorfer Artist since 1995,is comfortable in both the classical and popular idioms. An exciting career has taken her from performing at a young age to attending the Juilliard School on scholarship, and along with raising a family she later graduated from the University of Maryland.
In 1994 she began composing though she enjoyed improvising all of her life. Her"Aruba Suite, a five-piece piano suite reflects both classical and contemporary training and was inspired by a visit to Aruba where her sister lived by the sea. The suite was borne out of a series of impressions and memories. Being at the Earth's outermost point put her in touch with "something so great"-the inspiration for what you hear in her music. In 1995, invited to premiere her compositions at the Cas di Cultura in Oranjestad, Aruba, she received a standing ovation for her work.
Mary later produced a CD that contains "Aruba Suite", some revered classical works, and the title piece, "Moonwalk & Mother Earth". This story in music is a tribute to Dr. Edgar Mitchell, one of the great explorer/astronauts of the 20th Century and was written to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of his historic walk on the moon from Apollo XIV. This large work, like a Chopin ballade in its narrative nature, represents the stages of his space voyage as an allegory to the stages of life. Ms. Vasile also recorded a second CD,a delightful collection of popular songs, "Heavenly Moments" which also contain a
celestial theme.
Mary participated in public performances at Maine's Colby College Piano Institute for several summers. Too numerous to list, a sampling of her concert venues include the
prestigious Music at Marlboro Festival, Alice Tully Hall, Fordham University's Radio WFUV along with performances on New York television to promote youth concerts. The Phillips Gallery in Washington, D. C. and performances in Florida for the Palm Beach Invitational Series and Flagler Museum add to her many credits.
While being part of the Nashville, TN. music community she performed her state's governor on several occasions. When President George W. Bush campaigned there she was the featured artist. Subsequently she was invited to perform at two of his presidential inaugural events. Mary Vasile continues to enjoy her career performing from her new
home in California's north San Diego County.
