Volano is what Marco Pasillas has been doing musically with himself since 1999. Volano is not a proper band, as such: the name is a flag of convenience under which Pasillas arrays a floating canvas of musical ideas, painted with sonic strokes of ambiguity and relentless shifting of mood.

As an unconventional songwriter and soundscapist, Marco Pasillas imposes no musical limits on creation or lyrical content. Nor does he practice with any hard and fast rules. Some tracks are written in a traditional manner with a basic chord progression and voice accompaniment. However, most pieces of music are a combination of simultaneously composing, structuring and/or recording. The result is usually something that started off as a much different sounding track with the basic idea still intact.

Having been one-half of the successful âMetal-in-Spanglishâ Southern California outfit Camel Toe, Pasillas also has performed with Jazz, Blues and Funk groups, further embellishing on his wide musical tastes and brushing up on his bass playing chops. Sountracks, both music and otherwise, have also been of interest that has led Pasillas to score and design sound for special interest documentaries.
