he has worked extensively in cincinnati, ohio as a session player and producer.
randy studied classical piano with louise whyte of dayton, ohio and robert walters and robert wynne at wittenberg university.
randy studied clarinet with arthur eresman and john kemp of the dayton philharmonic orchestra. he won the dayton philharmonic's young artist competiton, performing the debussy premiere rhapsodie at the young people's concerts.
randy was selected the outstanding instrumentalist at the notre dame collegiate jazz festival by judges jim mcneely and joe farrell.
he held the position of graduate teaching associate at the ohio state university assisting with the jazz studies program.
randy attended the banff center for the arts jazz workshop which featured classes and private lessons with kenny werner, joe lovano, andreas wiedenmueller, joey barron, owen howard, ben monder, hugh frazier, dave pietro, and judy silvano.
randy has played keyboards in broadway show pit orchestras for annie, victor/victoria, 42nd street, and it's a wonderful life.
randy has composed, arranged, produced and played on many commercial music tracks, including ibm, kodak, kfc international, mcdonald's, the new york addy awards, proctor and gamble, and the u.s. air force reserve. his saxophone work has been heard on guiding light, as the world turns, another world, lifestyles of the rich and famous, and riviera. he has scored films for a & e and time life.
he has played on record dates for pop artists on cbs and polygram records.
as a solo artist, randy has released three cds: levels (1996 leviathan records), awakening (1996 positive music records), and every moment (2001 positive music records).
