Virgo Degan brings you a pitch-perfect, unforgettable rendition of Minnie Ripertonâs torch classic âLovinâ Youâ, remixed for modern dance-floors by todayâs top producers. Virgoâs new version of âLovinâ Youâ is an energizing, contemporary take on Ripertonâs soulful anthem. Virgo cites Ripertonâs music as his biggest childhood influence as a singer, and his latest single serves as his personal acknowledgment to the artist who has most inspired him. Riperton passed away from breast cancer in 1978 at the young age of 31. Fittingly, Virgo is donating proceeds from sales of this single to the Minnie Riperton Breast Cancer Fund as a tribute to the original artist.
âLovinâ Youâ has already generated considerable early buzz from a special pre-release edit that received airplay months before the singleâs official release, on XM Satellite Radioâs Ultra Dance channel and Los Angelesâs Indie 103.1, KDLE and 88.9, KXLU FM to promote National Cancer Awareness Month in October, 2005.
The âLovinâ Youâ maxi-single includes five sensational and electrifying remixes by some of the best up-and-coming DJs/producers in the country: Qubiq (Heaven 17âs âHands Up to Heavenâ, Jackoff Bastardsâ âBlack Leatherâ), FunkFusion (Fatboy Slim pres. REDâs âRelease the Pressureâ, Rosie Gainesâ âCloser Than Close 2005â) and infamous underground remixer Snatch Nubie, for whom âLovinâ Youâ represents his second officially-sanctioned release.
Virgoâs unique ability to hit perfect high notes and his almost eight-octave range has already garnered him significant attention. After producing and performing on many demos for himself and other artists, and working as a session singer, he released his first commercial EP, âYes, it is.â in Fall of 2003 on Fu2ah! Music. âYes, it is.â was produced by Chuck Henry of 10 West Productions and is an eclectic mix of digital and progressive rock, trance, and ballads. The track âStop Sayinâ That!â (Dark Trance Mix) from the EP won Garageband.comâs track of the day contest in April 2004 and again in January 2006. That song also was featured as Garageband.comâs dance track of the day in February 2004.
Although singing is Virgoâs first love, his appealing all-American look has also led to a successful modeling career. Starting with a runway show led by Suzy Chapstick when he was 13, he went on to land contracts with The Dash Group and OTTO modeling agencies. Virgo has been the cover model for The Advocate, and other magazines, and appeared in numerous health and fitness ads. He has been in prime-time commercials for Bally Total Fitness and Coca-Cola. Virgoâs images have been used greeting cards, calendars and collectables for 10 Percent Productions, and he was featured in art books from acclaimed photographer Steven Underhill. Virgo has also donated his services to appear in a controversial and attention-grabbing billboard and ad campaign for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), which can still be seen at many athletic facilities, health spas, and nightclubs throughout Southern California. Most recently, Virgo became a prestigious model for the popular Ed Hardy clothing line.
Modeling will always be secondary to Virgoâs love of music and singing which moved him from New Jersey to New York to Los Angeles where he currently resides. He has a new album of standards and love songs currently in production that will include a ballad version of âLovinâ Youâ as well as covers of other timeless classics, including âWitchcraftâ and âThe Way You Look Tonight.â This forthcoming project, due in early 2007, is entitled âStandardly Un-Standardâ, and will showcase Virgoâs vocal diversity as he adapts his enormous range for these crooners.
The âLovinâ Youâ remixes will be available to DJs, club owners, and radio in April 2006. The maxi-single will be commercially released to stores and available for digital download on May 9th, 2006. âLovinâ Youâ is released through Fu2ah! Music and distributed by Maximum Style Music. Contact (888) 441-3959 or (323) 805-0210 for ordering information.
