This album is smooth, sassy - and honest. UK songwriter, Vicky Taylor Roberts, offers up intelligent melodic pop with memorable choruses and strong, story based lyrics.
10 MP3 Songs
POP: Folky Pop, EASY LISTENING: Soft Rock
Details:
Vicky Taylor Robertsâ career in music began as a session vocalist for the likes of Billy Bragg and producer Rollo Armstrong (founder of Faithless and Cheeky Records). It was through her early collaborations with Rollo that Vicky developed an interest in dance music and spent the next few years writing and performing for a variety of projects, covering the spectrum from techno to trip-hop. During this time, Vickyâs intimate voice and inventive lyrics featured on numerous commercial and underground releases for labels such as Sapho, Rhythm Thief, Profile Records and, most recently, Kinky Vinyl.
After several years of recording, keen to develop her strengths as both a singer and songwriter, Vicky decided it was time for a change in direction. Gathering together like-minded musicians, she formed a band and began performing live in many of Londonâs acoustic venues, enjoying and exploring her newfound freedom to evolve. Vickyâs music continues to change, but still the memorable chorus melodies betray Vickyâs lingering fondness for the infectious hook â just as the witty, soulful lyrics that slink through each verse reflect Vickyâs adamant belief that songs, like stories, should have something to say.
