VIHARA was started in late 2002 in Bend, Or., by four guys, who basically just wanted to make music that they personally wanted to hear. All having the same goals in mind, and for the most part having very similar tastes, they started playing all the time.

The musicians had been hacking away at a handful of arrangements, and their drummer Jason stated one day, "I know the perfect guy", a childhood chum Justin) that happened to be living in Bend. After a session with Justin, and evaluating what he had done with the songs, that was pretty much it. Within a few weeks Vihara played their first show with King Black Acid in Bend for some typical snowboarding competion/party, & the rest is history. Since then, they have been writing, playing, and recorded their first album "STAND FAST" with engineer and producer Sean Norton.

They will continue to pummel stages and crowds alike, and make no promise to be professional or mature about it whatsoever.
