Valerie Gomes has lived in N.Y.C. for over 19 years. She started writing songs in the late 80s when she returned to N.Y. Her first song, entitled "Find A Cure", addressed the AIDS problem. She continues to write about social issues that are meaningful to her.
She has performed at Jane's Cafe, Baggot Inn, Sun Mountain, Eureka Joe's, C Note, Rose's Turn, Dark Star, The Triad Lounge, CBGB's Gallery, Orange Bear, etc... She has been on WBAI radio and performed her "Tower Song" at a Sept. 11th fundraiser at the B'hai Center. She sings and arranges backup vocals for many N.Y.C. musicians and has credits on many artists' CDs.
"Valerie Gomes Live" was recorded at a 2001 show at Rose's Turn in the Village. It includes her most popular and requested songs "Jerusalem" and "Riverside".
