Details:
Featured in The Village Voice 2005 Best of New York issue, Visible From Space, a NYC-based rock band, includes lead singer and fourth season âAmerican Idolâ semi-finalist, Judd Harris. Since 2002, Harris and guitarist Rick Nossa have been writing New Orleans-inspired hook-driven funk, rock and blues described as Red Hot Chili Peppers meets The Black Crowes. The band includes Harris on lead vocals, Nossa on guitar, bassist Robert Gingery, drummer Paul Amorese and keyboardist Jon Loyd.
Visible From Space has collectively performed with or opened for myriad artists including Billy Joel, Wyclef Jean, G.E. Smith, Jimmy Vivino, Sam Kininger, and Tower of Power frontman Tom Bowes. Their musical talents have also been featured on âDawsonâs Creekâ and âPalmetto Pointe,â and in the upcoming independent film "Raven to Ride."
The band opened for Wyclef Jean in October 2005 at a benefit at Crash Mansion in NYC organized by Harris for his hometown of New Orleans. âDo You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?â raised money for the victims of hurricane Katrina and specifically for New Orleans musicians. The event was hosted by Susan Sarandon and sponsored by The Corcoran Group, raising nearly $20,000, which was donated to The Tipitinaâs Foundation (www.tiptinasfoundation.org), and Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org).
In 2004, the band took a brief hiatus while Judd had a run on American Idol, becoming the eleventh place male in the fourth season and earning 86 of over 9 million votes in an online poll asking which contestant viewers would like to have back on the show. Since his return, the band has been gigging at clubs in the NYC area and beyond.
