Laura Younger,17, from Nayland in Suffolk has been touted âthe most promising singer/songwriter since Alanis Morissetteâ Her debut acoustic effort which includes such live favourites as âCity Girlsâ and Maybe Neverâ plus an acoustic version of âMisfitâ certainly proves her ability to craft fresh songs that reflect her eclectic musical tastes. Laura âadmirably expresses herself in music in a way that is clever yet comprehendible; memorable but not cliché.â

Laura is fast making a name for herself on the Suffolk/Essex acoustic circuit and is set to meet the same enthusiastic response from audiences across the United Kingdom. After sending her press kit to Contemporary Music Event Artist Services she was selected from 450 applicants from around the world to take part in a tour of the UK! Laura is due to star alongside two American bands, Big Baby Ernie (www.myspace.com/bigbabyernie) and Kalvin Koolidge (www.kalvinkoolidge.com) in a two week spree of gigs this October. Just like every other rebellious teenage mind Laura was out to break the mould. Female guitarists have a tendency to learn their three chords and use their capo to write ânew songsâ. Laura however, self-taught on guitar, has demonstrated a natural flair for the instrument. On the album she plays all of the guitar parts herself and flaunts a certain degree of technical ability that hints at great things to come.

"Note to Self" is an exploration of emotions, and tells stories that capture feelings and moments that could apply to so many of us. She seems to have a way of expressing through her music, things that a lot of us find difficult to say. An impressive feat that displays wisdom and understanding beyond her years.

Miss Younger who left Great Cornard Upper School last year with 3 A*s and 5 A grades at GCSE decided to leave college early in order to pursue her career in music. She says âIâd be bored in another job; I couldnât imagine another career that could keep me this attentive and happy.â Since leaving college she has launched her first Cd, secured a place on a UK tour and is currently liaising with some American promoters to take part in a tour of Boston and a separate tour of Minneapolis!
