In the year 1994, four high school friends, who shared an equal passion for music decided to take matters into their own hands and create music that had never been conceived, let alone tolerated, in their hometown of Parkersburg, West Virginia. The bandâs name was LOADED. After their first public performance in May 1995, LOADED quickly commanded the respect of their contemporaries by displaying exceptional skills and talent, coupled with a clear and uncompromising vision.
Founding members, Guitarist/Songwriter- Eric Seevers, Vocalist/Lyricist- Ian Leary, Bassist- Sean Eddy, and Percussionist- Mark Hayhurst, released two studio demos âThe American Schemeâ(1995) and âThe Present Wakeâ(1996). LOADED performed countless gigs giving them the opportunity to perfect their skills, interact with club owners, and learn about the business. In 1997, after three years of gigging and networking with limited success, Sean and Mark decided to leave the band to further their educations. LOADED was no more. Not allowing anything to deny their determination, Eric and Ian knew this wasnât the end, but just another beginning.
After a year of resolve, LIECUS was formed in September of 1998, with Ian and Eric assuming their accustomed roles in the group, adding Bassist- J.T. Jones and Percussionist- Dan Cole. With all their combined influences, LIECUS immediately set out to map their course. âDestroy All Nonbelieversâ released in 1999, was the bands first crack at the studio with the new lineup. LIECUSâ sound and power soon began to take shape, capturing fans with their dynamic and dominating live performance. LIECUS quickly drew the loyalty of many supporters packing the house in their hometown. LIECUSâ buzz quickly spread throughout the entire state of West Virginia and parts of Ohio winning the Best Buy Battle of the Bands in Cincinnati, OH beating out a local signed group and future TVT recording artists Bobaflex.
In November of 2000 the band knew it was time to take things a step further. LIECUS began recording their debut, full-length album âWhat Have They Come Forâ at Copperhead Ridge Studios in Mason, WV with long time friend Chris Grogan. For the next year LIECUS pieced this album together with their own money, time, and resources, learning and developing their skills along the way. âWhat Have They Come Forâ was finally released in October 2001, and served as a testimony to everything the band was about and stood for. For a solid year, upon the completion of âWhat Have They Come Forâ, LIECUS began venturing to neighboring states gaining more exposure by playing at reputable venues, with reputable acts, selling more than 1000 copies of their latest release, compiling email lists, and distributing LIECUS merchandise in every city along the path.
In March of 2003,after four years as a unit, Ian and Eric found themselves in the midst of another lineup change with the departure of Bassist- J.T. Jones and Percussionist- Dan Cole. LIECUS quickly rebounded by reforming with longtime friend
LOADED Percussionist- Mark Hayhurst and Bassist- Jim Pierce formerly of Blind Tempest
After extensive sessions honing their new-found talents, LIECUS decided it was time to get back to the studio. Prosthetic recording artists Byzantine and long time friends of LIECUS referred 101 productions in Sissonville, WV as the most reputable recording studio in the state. In April of 2004 with Aaron Fisher engineering and co-producing, they put together the most impressive recording LIECUS had produced to date, âHypocrite.â Featuring a more solid structure of songs and powerful groove to the album, âHypocriteâ showed a new, fresh side of LIECUS with a crisper overall production.
Shortly after the release of âHypocriteâ, LIECUS added Bassist- Neil Rosenbohm of the group Arcayne replacing Bassist- Jim Pierce. With the addition of Neil to the group, LIECUS took another step forward increasing the level of musicianship and original creativity within the band, helping shape the new sound and face of LIECUS. In the following year, after the release of âHypocrite,â LIECUS ventured to New York City trying out for Battle for Ozzfest and winning best Heavy Metal band at the New York International Music Festival, expanding their fan base even further while gaining confidence and exposure to industry representatives.
While putting together a music video for LIECUS at My Good Eye Inc., LIECUS suffered another loss with the departure of founding member and lead vocalist Ian Leary in October of 2005. Although this was a major shock and set-back, LIECUS remained steadfast in their endeavors, and with no time to waste LIECUS quickly filled the vacant front man spot with Josh Vandergrift (of the group (Yesterdayâs Ashes). Josh âVandyâ Vandergrift has brought a more dynamic and melodic influence to LIECUS making the music as a whole a perfect blend of Metal and Rock, crossing boundaries that were once impassable while broadening the potential audience and marketability of the group. With everything in place, the sound more sonic than ever, and momentum on their side LIECUS returned to 101 Productions in October of 2005 to record the new material. With just under two weeks LIECUS compiled six songs with the new line up proving to themselves and their peers that when itâs crunch time you have to step it up a notch, and so they did.
In August of 2006, LIECUS completed their new EP âDistinctive Designâ produced and engineered by Aaron Fisher of 101 Productions and mixed and mastered by Grammy award winning producer John Seymour (U2, Dave Mathews Band, Biohazard) of Media 51 and Treefort Studios. With the help of their new friend and team member, industry consultant Eugene Foley of Foley Entertainment, LIECUS has devised a plan to execute thier goals for the upcoming year, including the release of the new EP âDistinctive Designâ. LIECUS has hired the Planetary Group a college radio promotion/ management co. based out of Boston, MA and NYC to execute their radio campaign starting Sept 25th 2006. In the meantime LIECUS has been crushing their home state opening for National acts such as Nonpoint, Ten Years, Silent Civilian, and Hurt to name a few, while pushing their latest CD âDistinctive Designâ to packed houses. National publicity, touring, and shopping are also in order for the upcoming months.
Crossing over into a new beginning of creative infinities, fusing all influences into one solid mass of power and energy, this is the new LIECUS; overcoming adversity while maintaining a focus on what is real and true, the music
