Details:
A recent review in the Montana Magazine called Lynn Nelson is a Class Act. She has wowed audiences from Southern California to North Carolina, with stops in Montana along the way. "Fred Brush (Freddy) plays the guitar like Fred Astaire dances" was a recent quote from a review in the Billings Gazette.
Lynn's roots are in Minnesota, where she began singing at a very early age. Both her mother and father were professional musicians working all over the Northwest. Later, after she graduated from the University of North Dakota in Speech Pathology, she received an M.A. from Pepperdine University in Southern California in Psychology. Lynn's busy working career took her all over the U.S. but she eventually wound up in Southern California where she sang in jazz clubs and chorals, most notably the Los Robles Master Chorale. In 1998 she moved to Billings, Montana; it was there that she met Freddy.
Fred Brush is a Wyoming/Montana native. He began playing for country dances when he was only 12 years old. He attended the University of Montana (then at Missoula), majoring in music. While in the U.S. Air Force he attended Indiana University, studying the Russian Language. Following his Air Force tour, he completed college at Montana State University in Billings with a degree in English. He spent most of his working career in the oil business but all the while he indulged his passion for music by playing the guitar and bass evenings and weekends. He played in various groups in the Montana/ Wyoming/Dakotas areas, backing such personalities as varied as Tennessee Ernie Ford, Jimmy Dean, Bobby Vee, Bernadette Peters, The Moody Blues, and touring with New York (now Wyoming) drummer, Ronnie Bedford, and Friends. Fred's musical influences are varied: Chet Atkins, Barnie Kessel, George Van Eps, Howard Alden and Ron Eschete.
Love Notes is from their hearts. Great standards that are timeless. This follows a release, about a year ago, entitled I Thought About You, recorded with Keith Brush, Fred's son, a very busy jazz bassist in the Portland area, and Billings-based jazz drummer par excellence, Brad Edwards. This album also will soon be available on CDBaby.
Grab a glass of your favorite spirits, sit back, relax, and be prepared to relive the best music of our time.
