Nelda Washington of Dallas, Texas crosses all musical boundaries. A composer, arranger, singer and pianist, her music moves easily through contemporary Christian/gospel, praise & worship and urban contemporary gospel, with a signature style all her own.
Recently Nelda has composed a new song to be released on the upcoming Youth Mega Experience complication CD for TD Jakes's Dexterity Sounds record label, Marcus Dawson producer. She will be conducting workshops at the 2005 Mega Fest Conference for children.
Nelda debuted her title cut from her live studio recording, "My Desire Is To Please You", which has been shared with a variety of audiences and local appearances, including the opening act for Peabo Bryson. All songs were written and produced by Nelda.
With a wide variety of musical experience in ministry within the gospel industry today, Nelda has ministered with gospel music giants such as Kirk Franklin and the Family on their first LP and video release in 1993. She has performed as studio background vocalists for several contemporary/gospel artists on the rise, including such artists as Calvin Hunt and Da'maris Carbaugh of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and TD Jakes-Woman Thou Art Loosed CD, By the Tree, a rock n roll alternative Christian Group and Benita Arterberry-Burns.
Nelda has recorded numerous radio jingles and commercials for clients like top-rated urban station K104/FM in Dallas Texas, KJLH in California, a variety of corporations such as McDonalds, Texaco, The Texas Lottery - Mega Millions, Crystal Light Pepsi, The Dallas Cowboys, Insurance Depot, Radio Shack, Foley's, JC Penny's, and a host of many radio/television stations throughout the state of Texas, across the United States and in London, Europe and Japan.
Currently. Nelda has a song that plays on our top-rated urban station, K104 FM "I Love School" a song written to inspire children to "stay in school". The song has been broadcasted every morning! Since February 1997 to the present.
