From Seattle WA comes this four piece that combine the Fall's skewed seriousness with Drive Like Jehu's angular fire. Featuring members of The Blow Up, Tractor Sex Fatality, The Gimmicks and Attack Formation.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Modern Rock
Details:
New Fangs is a Seattle band, and Bayonets is their debut album. The band has alternately been described as a more aggressive Joy Division, or a genetic splice between The Fall and Drive Like Jehu. But they just call it rock 'n' roll. Bayonets is an instructional manual of sorts, with lyrics exploring the burning topics of were-bears in modern society, how to deal with vampire sailing ships, or where to plug in a haunted amplifier. New Fangs' propulsive backbeat and sharp, angular guitar work provide a stunning soundtrack to your next brain transplant or unicorn hunting party.
The Stranger:
These awesome Seattle garage punks make good on their claim to set fire to the amplifier, tensing tracks into agitated coils that strike hot with every chorus - and when we say hot, we mean as in Hot Snakes (RIP), mixed with a bit of The Fall's terse delivery (both vocally and
rhythmically). When New Fangs kick in the extra chants, the songs simply blaze with energy.
