Nevis is a Seattle-area funk/rock/jazz band led by Ty Tate, who writes, performs, records, and produces all instruments and vocals on Nevis recordings entirely by himself.

When Ty first began playing, his gift was such that he had been playing for only two years when he was accepted to the Virginia Governor's Magnet School for the Arts. He gigged extensively in the southeastern United States with his own bands for years, and worked as an on-call musician. Currently, Ty plays guitar and bass primarily, and performs and records in studios in the Seattle area.

Tyâs songwriting is influenced by artists including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince, Metallica, Living Colour, and Funkadelic.

Each Nevis track is unique and powerful, delivering the musicianship and raw talent that music lovers have missed from mainstream music for years.


Nevis has received airplay on many radio stations across the country--primarily in Washington, California, Ohio, but also in the countries of Canada and the United Kingdom. Among the more prominent stations are KAOS and KFNK in Washington and Streaming Radio UK in England.

Nevis received such favorable feedback from KAOS (http://kaos.evergreen.edu) radio listeners that Nevis was added to their permanent playlist.

Streaming Radio UK (www.streamingradio.co.uk) has featured Nevis on their Only Alternative show.
