New Shilling is comprised of four of the most sought after Celtic musicians in the Northwest. Their sound encompasses everything from old traditional ballads to wild new original tunes, songs and maybe a little funk thrown in for good measure. And no accordion!â¦â¦.oh waitâ¦..

Peter Yeates is a veteran singer/songwriter/guitarist from Dublin Ireland. He has toured the United states and Canada extensively and has also performed in Germany Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Romania, Russia, Mexico, Bermuda, Korea and his native Ireland. Peter now resides in the Pacific-Northwest of the United States.
Throughout the years, Peter has toured with some notable musicians Including James Kelly (Planxty, Patrick Street), Noel Hill (Planxty), Tommy Hayes (Stockton's Wing) and accordion player Paddy O'Brian.
During the early 80's he was a member of "The Old Triangle", a group twice voted top Irish folk act. In 1989 he and former "Touchstone" fiddler Skip Parente formed the much acclaimed Celtic/Rock Sextet "The Full Shilling" He has recorded two albums with this band.
Peter has toured as an opening act for the "Kingston Trio" and the "Limelighters". Bob Shane of the Kingston Trio called him "one of the best opening acts I have ever seen. He really primed the audience for us." He has appeared at the Milwaukee Irish Fest, the North Texas Irish Fest and many other Irish and folk festivals in this country in this country and abroad. He was a featured artist on National Public Radio's "Mountain Stage".
Peter has nine albums under his belt, three of which are solo. His album "Back in the Middle" was produced by Billy Oskay, founding member of "Night Noise" and has been receiving rave reviews. Several of his compositions have been recorded by other artists.

Rob Barrick moved to Portland OR in 1983, and played in several rock bands before collaborating with singer Peter Yeates to form Full Shilling, a Celtic fusion group with Rob McKendrick, Skip Parente, and Steve Mulligan. That group attracted a lot of attention as they played some of the bigger Celtic festivals in the US, such as the Milwaukee Irish Fest. Guest artists with the band included Kevin Burke, Johnny Cunningham and others.
Rob also played on Strictly Time, an extremely successful Highland Dance recording with Alan Walters, and Rob McKendrick.
As well as many guest recording spots, the Rob was a founding member of the group Raven which has recorded four CD's available through www.CDbaby.com
Also a member of the contra dance band Pied a Terre which has one recording out.
Rob has recorded a solo CD of popular pipe tunes as well, "The Standards" also available through Cdbaby, and has collabarated on a CD of Pipe and Harp Wedding Music with Elizabeth Nicholson.
Currently an approved adjudicator through the BC Pipers Association and in demand for dance competitions including the North West Regional Championships for the last six years.
Barbarrick Music is a recording studio that Rob runs, and this new CD is being produced there.

Eddie Parente hales from Jersey City New Jersey, and has lived in Boston Massachusetts where he played in a Mexican Mariachi Band, while studying Classical Indian Music with Tabla master Shashi Nayak, attending Irish Traditional Music sessions, and playing in an International folk dance band.
While living in North Carolina, Eddie (at that time known as "Skip") met, joined, recorded and toured extensively throughout the USA, Canada, England, Spain, with the Irish/Canadian/American Folk group Touchstone, having an album voted "Folk Album Of The Year"
Since moving to the Portland area he continues to play and record with a wide variety of musical groups, covering many styles. Some of his past and present associations include Portland State University Symphony Orchestra where he studied Violin with Artist in Residence Carol Sindell, Cascade Symphony Orchestra as Principal Violinist, Everythingâs Jake Swing band with 2 CDs of Original music, the "legendary" Celtic Rock group The Full Shilling, 10 piece Western Swing Group Ranch Dressing, Cul An Ti (Celtic), Raven, a Celtic music group with 2 CDs of traditional and contemporary original music, the "Trail Band" best described as an 8 piece folk orchestra with 5 CDs out, produced by Marv Ross (Quarterflash); The "Full House" Country band, David Valdezâs "Septeto Latino", to name a few. However, Jazz has always been his primary focus. He sites Saxophonist, composer and arranger Clif Waits, with whom he studied at Portland Community College as his primary mentor. Parente has also studied and played with pianist / composer Gordon Lee of the Mel Brown Quintet, Darren Clendenin, Saxophonist / Arranger Bob Newman and Bassist / Violinist Rob Thomas. Skipâs main influences: jazz violinists - Rob Thomas, Stuff Smith, Joe Venuti, Stephane Grappelli, Johnny Frigo and Svend Asmussen. But it was over 20 years ago, upon hearing trumpeter Donald Byrd for the first time, the composition "Ghana", from the "Byrd in Flight" Blue Note recording, that the true beauty and awesome force of Jazz irreversibly changed his life.
Eddie frequently travels to Russia, where he has performed in Krasnoyarsk (Siberia), and most recently, St. Petersburg and Moscow, performing his original music and collaborating with Saxophonist Oleg Kireyev and Guitarist Alexander Vinitsky. He has played 2 years in a row at Kaluga Jazz Festival (200km from Moscow), also several performances throughout the St. Petersburg International Jazz Festival. He has toured in many cites in Western Russia, playing in Philharmonic Halls in Beliki -Novgorod, Kazan, Ufa, Samara. He received continued Classical Violin training with Master violinist Tatyana Razomoava (Nevsky Quartet) in St. Petersburg during his visits. Eddie has performed at the well known St. Petersburg Jazz club "JFC", smaller intimate clubs like "Sunduk", "Mukha", as well as the Grand Hotel Europe (St. Petersburg) and the Hotel Metropol in Moscow with pianist Nikita Bratus.

Ken Larson, Bodhrán and Vocals: Ken began playing bodhrán in the early '80s in Minnesota, where he played for 10 years with Gallowglass Irish Trio as their lead singer and bodhrán player. Since moving to Oregon in the '90s, he has become one of the most sought-after bodhrán players in the Northwest because of his inventive and unique playing style.He's performed, toured and recorded with Peter Yeates as a duo for nearly a decade. He's also performed and recorded with some of the premier Celtic groups in the Portland area, as well as recording with many other groups and artists, including Lojo Russo, Raven, Curtis & Loretta, St. Jamesâs Gate, Cul an Ti, Karen Therese, Wes Burden, Steve Areen, Full Shilling and many others.
