Jo is a classically trained flutist who studied at The Florida State University. She has performed with several orchestras, including the Raleigh Symphony and the Greenville Symphony. She is currently principal flutist with the Blue Ridge Orchestra in Asheville, NC. In 1989, she began playing the hammered dulcimer. Jo has performed professionally for over 25 years, providing background music for many private events, as well as in restaurants such as the Irregardless Cafe and the NC Art Museum Cafe in Raleigh, NC. She has performed at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC for the past twelve Christmas seasons. In 1993 she produced her first recording, Candlelight Christmas, with guitarist, Richard Birt. Since then they have recorded a collection of traditional, familiar and original songs entitled Sweetwater and a collection of hymns, Candlelight Hymns. In 1998 Jo worked in cooperation with Biltmore Estate to produce Biltmore Estate Christmas, a compilation of eighteen soloists and small ensebles who performed at Biltmore House during the Christmas season. Biltmore Estate Christmas,Volume II was released in the fall of 2003. Jo is also a graphic designer and works with clients on a free-lance basis. She designed the covers of her CDs as well as CDs for other musicians. She lives in Asheville, NC with her dog and four cats.
