Description:

(ID 1367421)
My bad dog, my good neighbors, making worm cake, my first haircut, riding bicycles, keeping up with my older brother and dealing with bullies. Stories from my childhood in Staten Island, a borough of New York City.

5 MP3 Songs
KIDS/FAMILY: Children's Storytelling, KIDS/FAMILY: Kid Friendly

Details:
Stories about growing up in the Borough, when it was positively rural yet a part of NYC.

We rode our bikes, played in the woods and collected eggs at the chicken house next door. But we were New Yorkers.
And, because of our name? Because we lived far from the other kids? Because we were awkward and smart? Dunno why really, but we were the school scapegoats.

Did you ever wonder, about those kids, you know those kids in every school who are made fun of for everything about themselves?

Well, I was one of those kids, and I spent a lot of time thinking about how it was that my brother, and sister and I became the family that was picked on.

I also wondered how people got to be like my Grandma Kratky, generous, kind, yet not at all sweet.
