Modern Rock
11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, POP: Power Pop
Details:
No Deluxe Nothing was formed in 2001, in Damonâs basement during another long cold winter in Winnipeg Manitoba. Formerly Squiji, everyone told them that the name sucked, so they changed it. No Deluxe Nothing is a rock quartet consisting of Damon Hill on guitar and lead vocals, James Turner on drums, Jaie Sutton on bass and backup vocals, and Dino DâOttavio on guitar. If you really wanna know who these people are, see attached. The band basically revolves around Damon, who is the main songwriter and taskmaster. Mwuahahahaaha. No really, Damon is the guy who has been in the band all along. There have been other incarnations, involving around 6 or 7 other people who totally rocked, but they all either got pregnant or tendonitis. They have recently put together yet another 11 song CD (Damon is weirdly anal about 11, thatâs his number, itâs all about 11) which is kinda played by these guys and kinda not. One is missing, you figure out which one. The CD sounds great, was produced and engineered by Damon, who also wrote nearly all the songs, but unlike Billy Corgan, let other people play them. The reason it's so cool is because the songs that were gonna be recorded by Damon and some of those other 7 people changed when Jaie and James came along. They mixed it up with their own ideas and sense of musical style. So there is some reggae, some punk, some rock, some pop all mixed together to make this band what it is. There is a lot of distinct personality in these guys, Sutton is a crazy man, James knows how to train a dog, Dino can smoke and play at the same time, and Damon is just a fucking weirdo. They put on a high energy show, and theyâre all pretty nice to look at too. Did someone just say âwhole packageâ?
