NINA, a.k.a. Meron Fisseha was born and raised in Ethiopia, but currently resides in the U.S. She has been keen on listening to poetry, hip hop, and r & b soul music since her early childhood years and she has been writing poems ever since.
Born and raised up in poverty and social injustices, Meron was inspired to write about the same, advocating for social equality and shunning vices such as prostitution, and at the same time urging the youth to protect themselves from diseases such as HIV AIDS, a disease that has adversely affected Africa. It was only upon attending the College of Saint Benedicts where she met her producers, âSOHNNâ and âthe KITCHEN PRODUCTIONSâ that she got the motivation to put up an LP, entitled âAIDS IS REALâ. It took her more than five years to write the poems, which she carefully and graciously incorporates into smooth, soft instrumentals to come up with great poetry work which will capture her listener throughout. The poems are filled with passion because they relate to Meronâs personal life experiences, and which most listeners will identify with.
