Nimble Gnome is proof that anyone who has ever ridden a bicycle naked in the state of Kansas should possess at least a certain measure of undiscovered creative talent. If youâve never cycled in the nude, thatâs ok. Iâm sure you still possess hidden gifts.
Lambuth University. You may have heard of it if you live within a 10-mile radius of North Fairgrounds Road in Jackson, TN. Otherwise, letâs just say it was a place where magic was made. Great small-town Pop,Rock, and Christian influences from bands like Three-Gun, Adamâs Apple, The Tomfoolery Band, The Jukes, Jeremy Tubbs, Ken Weatherford, and 3rd Nip Gatzke. They were all the envy of the then undiscovered Nimble Gnome. From their shiny guitars, to their rangy voices, to their often inappropriate social habits, these were people who had started bands. From 1997-2001 (and for some 2002) we watched and listened in awe of the sound of this eclectic variety of music.
Finally, in the fall of 2002, an impulsive eBay purchase led to what would be the start of a new sound. Iâm sure that this Takamine G Series Acoustic Electric Guitar had no idea how it would be used, I mean other than someone picking it up and plucking itâs strings. And then maybe getting good enough to one day strike a perfect C chord. And then maybe taking the daring step to put chords together to make a song. And then maybe ⦠ok so you get the idea.
That my friends is how Nimble Gnome came to be. No desire to conquer the Top 40. No need for albums to go Gold, Platinum, or ... Myrrh. Just the aspiration of sharing a unique sound with expressional lyrics. Oh, and never to forget the one thing that bands âtrying to make itâ often forget: making music is pretty damn fun.
